Impact Theatre is proud to produce the first American production of internationally acclaimed French playwright Joel Pommerat’s “Le Petit Chaperon Rouge.” This adaptation of the classic children’s fairy-tale, Little Red Riding Hood, is an intriguing piece of theatre  which focuses on the single mother/single child relationship in an urban environment, and the tug-of-war for freedom. It is a coming of age story, where the wolf signifies all that could go wrong with innocence alone on the city streets.  This is the first time Joel Pommerat’s work will be performed in English in the United States. Pommerat’s company, Louis Brouillard, is extremely eager to see “Little Red Riding Hood” produced in New York and has offered us the rights to publish the play in English. It is a play for children, but equally a play for “inner children.”  We cannot emphasize enough that it like no other children’s play we have seen. At its core, the work attributes courage and sophistication to children. It addresses its young audiences with absolute reverence, helping children face their fears, fantasies and secret longings head on.

We need your help to raise $10,000 to produce the work in an Off-Off Broadway venue and in collaboration with a New York City middle school.  Any amount that you are able to contribute would be so very much appreciated. We would be grateful if you would please go to our web-site, www.impact-theatre.org, and press the “donate” button. Your contribution will help this project get the legs it needs to take this show on a school tour in the surrounding areas.

Thank you for your continued interest in Impact Theatre.
