About

(formerly "Fay Simpson Dance Theatre"):

Founded in 1991 by Artistic Director Fay Simpson and Executive Director Lauren B. Cramer, the company explores the delicate balance between choreography, text and music in an aesthetic search for new realities.  Through original physical theatre via the collaborative process, their presentations challenge audiences to view their world in a different light.

Fundamental to the troupes agenda is the belief that theatre is a social responsibility, and should be designed to nurture change and growth especially where there may be none.  Laudably, they reach out to underprivileged and homeless youth to introduce to them, by example, the benefits of creative expression in their lives.  And thus far, their exceptional reception has allowed IMPACT THEATRE to meaningfully impact on an often overlooked facet of
the community.

Mission Statement

Impact Theatre was founded on the belief that theatre has the power and responsibility to stimulate change and encourage growth in its community. The material devised is intended to cut through mainstream beliefs, with images that seep into the unconscious, confronting habitual contemporary thinking.  The collaborative process is respected as an important element of the product. Impact is dedicated in creating a favorable environment where all creative participants flourish.
